In the Groove...

Yay!!! It feels so good to be back and on track without other obligations getting in the way of our day!  Today, I was able to meet with EVERYONEs guided reading group. Yesterday, I came uplooked at data changed some colors for book boxes and made some group changes and I think all of the littles were pleasantly surprised at their progress!  Over the next few weeks I will be releasing some of our meeting timeThe groups will have partnerships menus to lead their guided reading discussions on certain days.

We read Martins Big Words.  Today we talked about the contributions MLK jr. made to our country as well as looking at how he changed throughout this book.
For the next few weeks we are going to be studying characters and the changes they go through and why those changes are made.
Last week we read several books in the Tacky series to get the little excited about noticing the characters and their characteristics.  On Friday, we made our own Tackys and wrote several sentences describing his character!

In math we are beginning TIME!  First grade responsibility is hour and half hour.  We have and will touch on quarter hours as well as knowing there is 5 min between each hour number on the clock!  I can tell the littles are ready. They had lots and lots of clock questions!

In Science we are continuing our study of animal characteristics and how they are related to their environment.
